Choosing a $cashtag automatically creates a shareable URL (https://cash.app/$yourcashtag) where friends, family, and customers can make payments to you privately and securely.
Changing your $cashtag
To change your $cashtag:
- Tap the profile icon on your Cash App home screen
- Select Personal
- Tap the $cashtag field
- Choose a new $cashtag
- Tap Set to confirm
$cashtags can only be changed twice. Prior versions become inactive so that they can’t be claimed by another customer. You can switch back to a previous $cashtag anytime.
Tips for picking a $cashtag
$cashtags are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The casing used when choosing a $cashtag is how it will display publicly. However, $cashtags are not case sensitive. For example, $Derek will display as $Derek, but it’s the same as $derek.
Your $cashtag must include at least 1 letter and be no longer than 20 characters.
To claim a $cashtag, you must have an active debit card linked to your Cash App.
