RECREATION PROGRAM INFORMATIONThe programs that are listed in this Program Guide are the programs that we had planned by the published due date.Please check our website for additional programs or call the Department for any updated programs.Due to facility limitations, programs may be subject to changes in times and/or locations. Please verify with theDepartment upon registering. We attempt to notify you as early as possible of any program change. If we fail to reachyou, please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused. Please register for classes in advance. Waiting until thelast minute may cause a class to cancel. Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Unless otherwise notedor notified by an instructor/program supervisor, classes/programs may be held on holidays.LATE REGISTRATION FEES: A $10 late fee will be imposed on any program registrations coming in after the deadline. Anylate registrations coming in after the rosters are set will be assessed at $20 plus any additional cost associated withordering needed equipment or supplies.Insufficient Funds - Checks returned for insufficient funds will be assessed a $50 fee by the Treasurer’s Office and thecheck writer's name will be forwarded to our Department and we will no longer be able to accept checks from saidcheck-writer.Refunds - Full refunds are issued in the event a program cancels; or if the Department is notified prior to the programstarting and where no costs are incurred. Where costs were incurred for deposits, apparel, equipment, or any otherprogram-related expenses; those costs will be deducted from the refund. No cash refunds will be given. Refundsgenerally take two to four weeks to receive due to the accounts payable cycle. Refunds are not issued after programsbegin or for unattended classes. Unusual circ*mstances will be handled on a case-by-case basis and may be subject tobeing credited for unused funds.Cancellations/Postponements of Programs -Every once in a while we think we have a great program idea or an instructorhas proposed a great program, but the enrollment is insufficient. The staff looks at postponing the program (time to bedetermined) to see if there is evidence that we think we can get the program to make through other means, andcanceling as a last resort. When we cancel, we do our best to notify participants and issue a refund.Inclement Weather Policy: At this time, the King George County Parks and Recreation Department follows the KingGeorge County Schools schedule for programs offered in the schools. All other sites are considered independently.Announcements about program cancellations will be sent through KG Alerts. SUMMER CAMPOur camps provide a safe, fun, and active environment for all youth. We offer indoor and outdooractivities as well as opportunities for pure fun, friendships, and exploration. We pride ourselves onoffering an action-packed, varied and exciting camp. Our camps are designed to suit everyone andgive your child a chance to experience PURE FUN! PLAY IT SMARTKing George County Parks & Recreation and the King George County Schools have teamed up tooffer before and after school programs, ages K – 5th. Supervised activities will include games, sports,crafts, fitness, and homework assistance. This program is meant to instill character, education,fitness, and nutrition. A half-hour is designated every day for homework and reading time. GYMNASTICS Gymnastics teaches many transferable skills for both your child's mental and physical health. Gymnastics builds strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance, increasing self-esteem, building social skills, learning to make positive choices, and respecting others in their lives. Classes are available for children of all ages from 6 months to 18 years old. All classes are held at the Quonset Hut/King George Gymnastics Center located at 9100 St. Anthony's Road behind the School Board office. Park in the side lot across the street from St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Some classes require preauthorization from our coaches. For any questions about which class you should enroll in please contact Coach Heather at 540-419-8265. For registration questions call the Citizens Center at 540-775-4386. PARTIES The Gymnastics Center is available for party rentals. Parties start at $35/hour. Gymnastics and Nerf Gun parties are a big hit for birthdays. Facility rentals (other than sports fields) are on a first-come/first-served basis and must be made at least two weeks in advance. PEE WEE SOCCER An instructional and developmental program that enables kids ages 3-4 to have a positive sports experience. It is a step-by-step approach that builds self-confidence while teaching the fundamentals of the game. Parents participate with their children to help teach them the basic skills needed for the next level of organized play. The program utilizes positive reinforcement and fun activities. Registration is from June 1 to July 8 (or when the classes are full). Practices are held at Barnesfield Park, Sealston Sports Complex, Ralph Bunche School, Cedell Brooks Jr. Park, and Hunter Field. The coaches will set their practice schedules. New Uniforms are included in the registration including 2 jerseys, shorts, and socks. We need coaches for all age groups! Volunteer head coaches receive a refund of their registration fee upon successful completion of the season. SPORTS CAMPS GYMNASTICS CAMP King George Parks and Recreation will offer a summer gymnastics camp for ages 5-15 years. The camp is geared towards beginners through level 3. These camps are offered in half day sessions. Registration deadline is 10 days prior to each session. SPORTS CAMPS CHALLENGER INTERNATIONAL SOCCER CAMPS For many years our British Soccer and TetraBrazil camp programs were delivered exclusively by British and Brazilian coaches and our coaching material was heavily influenced by those countries. However, the recent World Cup demonstrated to us all just how well developed the game is globally and it is now time to provide players in the US and Canada with the very best coaching methods and practices from the world’s most influential soccer-playing nations. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily World Cup tournament.
