LEARN MORE ABOUT QUARTZ

Q™ MARBLE LOOK QUARTZ COMPARED TO MARBLE

If you’re looking for a material that’s as timeless and classic as marble, look no further. Q™ Quartz is an engineered surface that looks just like it—but with added strength and resilience.

Marble has always been one of the most popular countertop options because of its creamy composure and soft luminosity. However, it’s also among the softest natural stone options used for countertops, rating at just 3-5 on the Mohs hardness scale. And Marble will require regular resealing to prevent staining and ensure longevity. Q™ Marble Look Quartz features a 7-8 Mohs hardness which offers greater strength and resilience than marble while still offering that same creamy appearance.

CONCRETE VS. CONCRETE LOOK QUARTZ

Concrete is a mixture of water, cement, and an aggregate of sand or gravel. Concrete countertops’ costs are similar to quartz countertops in looks, but they don’t compare in terms of quality. Real concrete countertops are porous, which means they absorb liquids and stain easily. They also require sealing and resealing every few years. Concrete-look quartz is made of natural quartz, and colored pigments, blended with polymer resins.

Q™ Concrete Look Quartz does not absorb liquids and stains, and it doesn’t require sealing, polishing, or reconditioning.

When quartz countertops are purchased from reputable companies and retailers, they are installed in a smooth, expert process by professionals.

HOW DO Q™ QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS COMPARE TO GRANITE?

If you’re looking for a countertop that will be as beautiful, durable, and easy to maintain as granite, Q™ Granite Look Quartz might be what you’re looking for.

Q™ Quartz feature designs that are made to mimic the look of granite. Quartz is stronger than solid granite, which is rated at 6-7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Quartz features a 7-8 Mohs hardness which offers greater strength.

This means quartz offers the same strength and durability as some of the hardest natural stone used for counters and other surfaces in the home. Unlike granite, however, quartz is nonporous and requires no sealing to maintain its beauty and integrity.

Learn more about how to care for your Q Premium Natural Quartz at our page.

Can Quartz Withstand Heat? Can I Put a Hot Pot or Pan on It?

No counter surface is entirely immune to the effects of extreme temperatures, and manufacturers always recommend using protection, such as a hot pad or trivet, when placing extremely hot pots or pans on the counter.

Q™ Premium Natural Quartz can reliably withstand temperatures up to about 300°F without scorching. However, high heat could affect the resin content of the slab, potentially causing discoloration, so it’s always best to protect engineered quartz surfaces from heat. Learn more about Q™ Quartz heat resistance.

How Well Does Quartz Hold Up Against Stains?

One of the most appealing characteristics of engineered quartz is how resistant it is to stain. While porous stone like granite and marble must be resealed regularly to prevent the possibility of staining, Q™ Quartz is a nonporous surface that can hold up to known staining agents like coffee, tea, juice, pasta sauce, and more, with almost no maintenance required. Learn more about why Q™ Quartz is stain resistant but not stain proof.

How Safe Is Quartz for Food Preparation?

Engineered quartz is among the most food-safe surfaces available. While natural stone needs regular sealing to maintain protection against stains and microbes seeping into the surface, quartz is nonporous, preventing both staining and microbial growth. Q™ Quartz is non-toxic and certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) as meeting standards for food safety and sanitation. It is also Kosher certified. Learn more about why quartz is considered sanitary and how to keep your quartz countertop hygienic.
