Choccolocco Creek flows under Interstate 20 at the diamond interchange (Exit 191) with U.S. 431/SR 301. A pair of bridges follow over farmland that accommodate flood waters from the creek during periods of heavy rain. This stretch of I-20 was completed in 1968. 05/06/22

I-20/U.S. 431 continue west into the city of Oxford. Anniston is nine miles to the northwest and Birmingham is an hour away. 05/06/22

Coldwater Mountain comes into view along the western horizon ahead of Exit 188 for the continuation of U.S. 431 north onto Veterans Memorial Parkway (Anniston Eastern Bypass). The bypass stems north from Golden Springs to SR 21 at Saks. 05/06/22

U.S. 431 follows Golden Springs Road north from the adjacent grade separated intersection with U.S. 78 to Veterans Memorial Parkway. Leon Smith Parkway extends southward from Exit 188 to McIntosh Road near Hicks. 05/06/22

Exit 185 departs I-20 west for SR 21 (Quintard Avenue). SR 21 heads southwest from Oxford to Talladega. Northeast from Anniston, SR 21 continues by the former Fort McClellan to Jacksonville. 05/06/22

The Coldwater community in west Oxford Coldwater lies five miles to the west off Exit 179. Six lane expansion along I-20 as part of the Progress20 project was undertaken in two projects between milepost 181.73 and 193.83. Work on the western 4.48 miles ran between November 2010 and Summer 2013; the eastern 7.9 mile long segment followed between December 2011 and Fall 2013. 05/06/22
