Tips for this Recipe

  • Use ingredients at room temperature to ensure better ingredient incorporation and a uniform texture.
  • Avoid overmixing the dough after adding dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, etc.) to prevent making the cookies too dense.
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before shaping the cookies; this will ease the assembly and prevent excessive spreading during baking.
  • Space the cookies adequately on the baking sheet since they tend to spread during baking.
  • Monitor the baking process to achieve cookies that are slightly golden on the outside while maintaining a soft center.
  • Let the cookies cool on a rack to allow them to firm up slightly on the outside while remaining tender inside.
  • Add small edible googly eyes to each cookie to represent Cookie Monster's eyes.

Storage and freezing

Room temperature: Store the baked and completely cooled blue Monster cookies in an airtight container for approximately 1 week at room temperature.

How to freeze? Alternatively, place them in freezer-safe bags for up to 3 months once they are either fully cooled or when rolled into dough balls. Simply let them thaw a bit before baking in the oven.
